Green Tips for Wash Day

When possible, wash clothes in cold water. About 90% of the energy used in a clothes washer goes to water heating.

Make sure your dryer's outside vent is clear and clean the lint filter after every load. The dryer runs more effceintly and a clogged vent and flter can be a fire hazard.

Hang your clothes out to dry. We are a family of 4 so we do anywhere from 10 -15 loads of laundry per week. Based on the current electricity costs in our area and the kilowatts rating on our dryer we save almost $30.00 per month by hanging our clothes out on the line. You use no energy, your clothes smell great.
